2 . Description

Deslorelin acetate is an injectable gonadotropin releasing hormone super-agonist (GnRH agonist) also known as an LHRH agonist. It stops the production of sex hormones (testosterone and oestrogen).

Deslorelin Acetate is marketed by Peptech with the brand name Ovuplant. It is currently approved for use in veterinary medicine and is used to induce ovulation in mares as part of the artificial insemination process. It is also used to stabilize high-risk pregnancies, mainly of livestock. Unlike other GnRH agonists, which are mainly used to inhibit luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone by their ultimate downregulation of the pituitary gland, Deslorelin is primarily used for the initial flare effect upon the pituitary, and its associated surge of LH secretion.

 

3 . Application

Deslorelin was successfully trialed in the US and was approved for veterinary use under certain circumstances. In Europe, it was approved for use in equine assisted reproduction.

It is also being trialed in humans to study its efficacy in treatment of breast cancer in women , and in treating precocious puberty and congenital adrenal hyperplasia in male and female children.

What is IGF-1 LR3 ?

To start with the basics, IGF stands for Insulin Growth Factor. In your body, HGH (Human Growth Hormone) stimulates the liver to release IGF-1. IGF is an anabolic hormone that like GH is at its peak during puberty. IGF plays a role in muscle growth and fat metabolism through increased the uptake of nutrients from food in the intestines, and subsequent delivery of these nutrients to muscle tissues. Many roles for DSIP have been suggested following research carried out using peptide analogues with a greater molecular stability and through measuring DSIP-like immunological (DSIP-LI) response by injecting DSIP antiserum and antibodies.
In the brain its action may be mediated by NMDA receptors. In another study Delta sleep-inducing peptide stimulated Acetyltransferase activity through α1 receptors in rats. It is unknown where DSIP is synthesized.

 

DSIP Application

Delta sleep-inducing peptide was first discovered in 1974 by the Swiss Schoenenberger-Monnier group who isolated it from the cerebral venous blood of rabbits in an induced state of sleep . It was primarily believed to be involved in sleep regulation due to its apparent ability to induce slow-wave sleep in rabbits , but studies on the subject have been contradictory .

DSIP (Delta Sleep-inducing Peptide) is a neuropeptide found in the hypothalamus, pituitary, and adrenal glands. Its isolation has allowed for extensive research which has found several possible primary and peripheral roles of this peptide.

First, DSIP has been shown to induce sleep. Second, it may have benefits as an analgesic in treatment of chronic pain, sometimes as an adjunct treatment. Third, DSIP has been shown to block ACTH release and decrease levels of ACTH, stimulate LH release, and act as an inhibitor of the secretion of somatostatin.

The source of production of DSIP is yet unknown; It may be produced in the central nervous system or in a peripheral organ. It is thought to pass through the blood-brain barrier (BBB) more easily than most known neuropeptides. As mentioned, DSIP has shown positive results in inducing slow-wave EEG (sleep). It has been shown to help treat narcolepsy and restore disturbed sleep patterns to normal sleep rhythms.
